A poem for January 2016

A New Year

New Year’s day dawned bright and clear,

A promise of things to come you might say,

If you were superstitious; I am not,

Not much, and anyway,

Today the weather changed.

Persistent rain is falling on the path,

On the steps, on the garden.

Like the Sun, rain also brings life,

But I notice that the flowers tremble

And their petals flinch

Each time a raindrop strikes them.
