A poem for December 2014

True to Form

When George was wounded, fighting for his nation

There was, as usual, no real option

Just strike out the line that does not apply

If anything else is added,

The postcard will be destroyed

It said.

So George could be:

            going on well

            or

            (hoping) to be discharged soon

George who died of his wounds

Four years after the war

Could not be:

            badly wounded

            or

            totally buggared

That would be bad form.
