A poem for the month - August

Deer in a Cornfield

She floats high above the corn,

caught in mid-spring,

a study in perfection.

They say Merrick’s mother was frightened by an elephant.

Her son bore the marks of the encounter all his life.

You were startled, too.

Your daughter will be graceful,

and shine with effortless beauty.
